Walking around Greenfield yesterday while I waited for a roll to get developed. (by clickiemcpete on Lomography)
Last week I went to Vegas for the NAB Show. I had a great time. I went out 2 different nights to shoot some video and stills. Here are a few of my favorites. I will post more soon.

I got a change to go up and shoot stills and some video with a friend. It was a bit scary but totally awesome. I have never shot from a helicopter since I am more of a portrait guy. Once I got over the fact (and fear) that I was in a helicopter with no doors on it, I was fine. I tried several different settings on my camera to see what I could produce. Here are a few samples that I think turned out great. I really enjoyed it and will probably do it again.

I decided to brave the cold and get out and shoot some random footage near my house. It was extremely cold and windy. It was totally worth it though. I had a lot of fun putting this little video together. Video details: Canon 1d Mark IV, Canon 24-70, Tiffen ND Filter, Tripod, edited in Final Cut Pro. Music: Tristia by Hammock - hammockmusic.net

Lately I have been trying some new things to get different effects by using my camera instead of doing them in post. I have tried several things but will keep experimenting to find a few that I will try on an actual shoot. This little experiment uses a Profoto Disc Reflector and 1 soft box.
I set the soft box behind my daughter (best test subject ever). Then I took the reflector and held it in front of my lens so you can see it when looking in the view finder. You can move the reflector around and get tons of different effects.
Sure you can get an effect like this in Photoshop but the less you have to do in post the better. Here are a few examples.

I just finished adding 54 photos for my In Your Face project.

This is a quick composite. I don’t do much compositing but I enjoy it. It’s fun even if it’s something really simple.
I am a huge fan of street photography. I found this on tumblr and it has some very nice street photography from Montreal. If you like black and white and street photography check it out.
I got 2 emails this week requesting info about what gear I use. I have received emails like this in the past and have replied. So instead of always having to reply, I decided to do a write up about the gear use.
I had more lights etc but sold them off to simplify my kit. I have been blessed to be able to buy some profoto gear. It is not cheap but worth it. Here is a list of some misc. tools I use for my photography.
So there you have it. As you can see I don’t use or have a ton of lenses. I currently only own 2. In the past I have owned at least 4 lenses. Last year I decided to use 2 lenses for as long as I can. It’s not as easy as you would think. I have owned a ton of gear over the years but I don’t want to get caught up in that anymore.
